2 rescued, 2 still missing in Lake Mead National Recreation Area

​​A hiker and a swimmer were rescued today, and two swimmers are still missing in separate incidents at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

According to the National Park Service, a man was reported missing at 11:43 a.m. after he jumped off of a boat to go swimming in Lake Mohave, about 15 miles south of the Hoover Dam.

He was seen going under the water, spokesperson Christie Vanover said.

A second man was reported missing at 2:21 p.m. near Boulder Islands on Lake Mead, the National Park Service said.

Park rangers and members of the Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue Dive Team are looking for the two individuals.

Neither man was wearing a life jacket, Vanover said.

A woman was rescued by rangers around 11 a.m. after she had difficulties breathing during a hike. She refused medical assistance.

Rangers and medics also responded to a call of a near-drowning in Lake Mohave at 1:54 p.m. The man was transported by air to a Las Vegas hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery, the National Park Service said.
