51s use three-run first inning to beat Salt Lake

Josh Satin had an RBI single today for the Las Vegas 51s in a three-run first inning, and followed with a solo home run in his next at bat, helping the 51s beat Salt Lake 5-3 in the final game of a Pacific Coast League series.

Brennan Boesch had a three-run home run for Salt Lake in the eighth inning, but 51s reliever Gonzalez Germen pitched a scoreless ninth to help Las Vegas take three of four games in the series.

John Lannan pitched six scoreless innings for Las Vegas to earn the win.

In the three-run first, Matt Reynolds and Kevin Plawecki had run-scoring singles. Matt den Dekker contributed two runs and two hits for Las Vegas, which improved to 62-49 and nine games ahead of Albuquerque for first place in the PCL’s Pacific Southern Division.

The 51s host El Paso, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, starting at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
