A child was taken to the hospital with a cut and minor smoke inhalation after a mattress caught fire at an apartment this afternoon, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.
At 1:27 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of a fire at the apartment at 6750 Del Rey Ave., fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
Firefighters arrived to find a mattress in a bedroom had caught fire, but the blaze was out by the time they arrived, he said.
The age of the child who was injured was not immediately released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
