Dog killed in house fire Saturday night

One dog killed, one rescued from house fire

One dog was killed and another was rescued from a kitchen fire Saturday night in the northeast Las Vegas Valley.

Clark County Fire initially responded about 6:25 p.m. to reports of smoke in the Sloan Channel but soon discovered the fire to be coming from a home at 1537 Lady Bryan Lane, near Sloan Lane and Owens Avenue. Firefighters extinguished the flames and then searched the home, county fire officials said.

The residents were not home, but two dogs were inside. One dog was dead, but the other was rescued and received treatment from firefighters, officials said. No one else was injured in the fire.

The fire was confined to the kitchen, but heavy smoke caused about $20,000 worth of damage throughout the home, officials said. The cause for the fire is under investigation.
