letter to the editor:

Reckless bicyclists a danger on trail

Amid the noises, pollution, ad frenzy of life, there is a small oasis in Henderson and that is the Pittman Wash Trail near Silver Springs Park.

I have been walking serenely with my two dogs there for 11 years and am sad to say it has become a dangerous obstacle course. Something must be done before a terrible accident occurs involving bike riders, joggers and dog walkers.

The trail is at most 8 feet wide. Bike riders seem to believe the trail is just for them. They do not let us slow walkers know they are coming from behind at speeds way too fast for the narrow path. They curse at us for not getting out of their way, and the trail has become most unpleasant.

The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department needs to address these issues and post rules and regulations for all who use the trails.
