RENO — A woman sought by authorities for nearly six years in the poisoning death of a northern Nevada businessman who was her estranged husband has been arrested in Peru.
The FBI says 48-year-old Nazira Maria Cross was arrested at her home early Wednesday by Peruvian National Police.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Cross is accused of poisoning her estranged husband, 55-year-old Michael Cross, and burying his body at his Lovelock ranch. The victim owned car dealerships in Reno and Lovelock.
In 2009 Nazira Cross she was charged with first-degree murder in Plumas County, California.
Authorities say Cross is a native of Costa Rica and fled the United States after being questioned about Michael Cross's death in July 2008.
