Reno man sentenced for stalking high school girl

MINDEN, Nev. — A Reno man has received the maximum sentence for stalking a female athlete at a high school track meet in Minden.

East Fork Justice of the Peace Tom Perkins on Thursday sentenced 59-year-old Rodney Skan to six months in jail for videotaping the girl at Douglas High School.

Skan was arrested May 3 after someone noticed he was taping an athlete when she wasn't competing. He pleaded guilty last month to a misdemeanor stalking charge.

He's accused of possessing some 400 videos of over three dozen different girls taken at northern Nevada sporting events over the last 18 years.

Prosecutors have said the videos of student athletes focus on specific body parts.

Skan has been banned from events in the Douglas County, Carson City and Washoe County school districts.
