A driver suspected in a hit-and-run accident that left an 11-year-old boy seriously injured on Monday turned himself in today to Metro Police, authorities said.

Rodrigo Tomax, 25, was arrested about 2 a.m. and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on one count of failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving an injury, police said.

Evidence indicates that Tomax was driving a Honda Civic on Monday night on Bonanza Road near Eastern Avenue when he lost control and hit the boy on the sidewalk, police said.

The boy was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

A Metro patrol officer later found the car parked in a nearby neighborhood, but nobody was with the car, police said.
