Northshore Road near Lake Las Vegas reopens after fatal accident

One man is dead and two people were airlifted to area hospitals after a head-on accident this morning northeast of Lake Las Vegas, authorities report.

The two-vehicle accident was reported about 10:15 a.m. near mile marker 2 on Northshore Road, according to a news release from the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Emergency crews from the National Park Service and Henderson Fire Department responded. An adult male was pronounced dead at 11:13 a.m. The Clark County Medical Examiner will determine cause of death and confirm his identity after next of kin have been notified, the news release said.

Northshore Road between Lakeshore Road and Lake Mead Boulevard was closed for nearly six hours while investigators worked at the accident scene, but the road reopened late this afternoon.

Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating.
