After being roughed up early, 51s pitchers solid in comeback win against Memphis

The Las Vegas 51s scored two runs in the seventh and eighth innings today to rally past visiting Memphis, including a two-run home run from Matt den Dekker in a 10-8 victory.

The 51s trailed 8-3 after four innings, but started their comeback with three runs in the fifth. Juan Centeno had a two-run single in the fifth and Brandon Allen followed with an RBI single to trim the deficit to two runs.

Las Vegas tied the game in the seventh on den Dekker’s home run and took the lead in the eighth when Andrew Brown doubled and scored on Cory Vaughn’s single. Vaughn scored an insurance run on Allan Dykstra’s single.

After giving up eight runs in the initial four innings, Las Vegas pitchers surrendered just one hit the rest of the game.

The 51s (47-32) are off Wednesday. They open a series at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sacramento.
