The National Weather Service has issued a high-wind advisory from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today for the Las Vegas Valley.
The forecast calls for winds between 20 and 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, weather service meteorologist Chris Stumpf said.
People with breathing conditions are encouraged to stay inside because of the potential for blowing dust, Stumpf said. Despite cloudy skies this morning, the valley is expected to extend its streak without rain to 117 days.
