Four people hospitalized in serious 2-car crash

Updated Friday, June 27, 2014 | 10:19 a.m.

Four people who were not wearing seat belts suffered serious to critical injuries Thursday evening in a northwest valley accident, Metro Police reported.

A Toyota Corolla and Chevrolet Malibu collided at 7:37 p.m. in the intersection of Durango Drive and Alexander Road. The crash spun both cars to the southeast corner of the intersection, where the Corolla hit a metal light pole, police said.

The preliminary investigation indicates that none of the four occupants in the Toyota were wearing seat belts, police said. One passenger in the back seat was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

The Toyota’s occupants — ranging in age from 20 to 45 — were transported to University Medical Center with serious to critical injuries, police said. Two people in the Malibu suffered minor injuries, police said.
