letter to the editor:

Some people don’t want democracy

At some time or other, the United States has backed a coup or an assassination, or used military force to set up a failed government, which always turned out to be corrupt.

The question never asked is “Why?” Why do we spend billions of dollars attempting to bribe so-called allies that work against American interests while they protect and hide enemies we seek?

The answer is very simple: to protect Big Oil interests. In other words, our troops have been dying for profits gained by people who could care less about patriotism.

Their concern is profit margins and funding lobbyists who donate to politicians who implement foreign policies that caused this great nation nothing but grief.

We would have never amassed these enemies if we had just stayed out of Middle Eastern politics.

When will the people hoping for war in the Middle East understand it isn’t about democracy?

You can’t bring democracy to people who don’t want it through military might.
