A 30-year-old woman was killed Tuesday night after she opened the door of a moving sport utility vehicle, which crashed into a light pole and ejected the woman, Metro Police reported.
Police responded about 11:30 p.m. to the crash near the intersection of Torrey Pines Drive and Copperfield Avenue.
The woman, a passenger in a second row of seats, opened a door while the SUV was moving, police said. The driver became distracted and drifted off the roadway and into a light pole, ejecting the woman, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
