Arraignment was postponed for an 18-year-old accused of killing a Las Vegas man and shooting at his wife in a street confrontation following an encounter at a downtown convenience store.

A Las Vegas judge on Monday reset Alan Sosa's hearing for Wednesday to allow time to appoint the Clark County special public defender's office to represent him.

Sosa was arrested March 11 on murder, attempted murder and concealed weapon charges in the March 1 slaying of 27-year-old Juan Edward Cervantes and the alleged shooting at Christine Mata.

Police say shots were fired when the couple confronted Sosa after he left a convenience store on Stewart Avenue and walked with several people on 21st Street.

Sosa also faces a March 25 preliminary hearing in a robbery with a weapon case.
