Fire displaces family

A fire this morning displaced a woman and her four daughters from their Las Vegas home.

Clark County Fire Department responded about 5:20 a.m. to the house at 8065 Orchestra Ave., near East Windmill Lane and Paradise Road. A neighbor noticed the fire and warned the family, allowing the women to evacuate safely, county fire officials said.

The blaze extended from the garage into the attic, causing about $40,000 in damage. Firefighters extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes and also rescued a cat, officials said.

Clark County Fire is investigating the fire’s cause.
