House fire chases nine from NLV home, damage reported at $300K

Location of fire

An electrical fire early this afternoon in a North Las Vegas home caused an estimated $300,000 in damage and displaced nine people, including six children, officials said.

Firefighters were called about 12:20 p.m. to the house at 3714 Blake Canyon Drive.

All nine of the occupants were safely out of the house when firefighters arrived to the two-story, single-family home, according to North Las Vegas Fire Capt. Cedric Williams.

Fire units from North Las Vegas and Las Vegas were able to keep the fire contained to the first floor before bringing the blaze under control.

Extensive fire, smoke and water damage was reported from the fire, which officials labeled as accidental.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents with housing and other needs, Williams said.
