51s use long ball to edge Salt Lake

Three of the Las Vegas 51s' eight hits today against Salt Lake went for home runs in a 7-6 victory against the host Bees to open a four-game series.

Allan Dykstra started the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning, while Wilmer Flores and Juan Centeno also homered for Las Vegas (21-10). Flores finished 2 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored, and Centeno and leadoff hitter Eric Campbell also scored a pair of runs.

Josh Edgin struck out two batters in pitching a scoreless eighth, and Vic Black retired the final three batters for the save.

The series continues at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday. Las Vegas is back at Cashman Field Saturday for a four-game series with Tacoma, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
