A man barricaded himself inside his home this morning and has refused to surrender to Metro Police SWAT officers for more than three hours.
Metro Police received a call for help about 5:10 a.m. at the home in the 6100 block of Even Sail Drive near Lake Mead Boulevard and Mt. Hood Street. It was unclear what prompted the call or who placed it.
When officers arrived, the man slammed the door in their face, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.
A woman and children in the home got out, but the man has remained inside, police said. It is unknown if he is armed, Meltzer said.
Neighbors in the surrounding homes have been evacuated as a precaution.
