More signups, more complaints for Nevada health exchange

CARSON CITY — Thousands more people have enrolled for health coverage in the past month through Nevada's insurance exchange but problems persist.

The board overseeing Nevada Health Link was told Thursday that nearly 35,000 people had enrolled in a qualified health plan as of May 3, halfway through a two-month special enrollment period that ends May 30.

Another 11,000 have selected plans but not yet paid for them.

But board members say over the past two weeks complaints have increased from carriers and others about billing problems that have plagued the system built by Xerox since it went live Oct. 1.

A Xerox official says they are researching the latest wave of errors.

Board members Thursday also said they hope to decide by month's end whether to keep Xerox as the operator.
