Sue Lowden stepping down from Board of Medical Examiners

CARSON CITY — Sue Lowden, a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, has informed Gov. Brian Sandoval she does not want to be reappointed to the state Board of Medical Examiners when her term expires June 30.

The governor said Lowden told him last week she did not want another term on the board that regulates the conduct of doctors.

She was first appointed by former Gov. Jim Gibbons in December 2010 as the public representative on the board. She was reappointed by Sandoval.

The governor said Tuesday that no one has been selected yet to succeed Lowden.

Lowden is campaigning against Sen. Mark Hutchinson, who is backed by Sandoval.
