A man suspected of drunken driving plowed into a motorcycle Thursday night, seriously injuring the rider, Metro Police reported.
The crash happened about 11 p.m. near Rainbow Boulevard and Escalon Drive in the northwest valley.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 2011 Kia Sorento was speeding south on Rainbow when it hit a 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle attempting to turn left from a private drive, police said.
The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old man, was thrown onto the road, police said. He was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the Kia Sorento, Anthony Munoz, 29, continued south on Rainbow until he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road, police said.
Munoz and a passenger attempted to leave on foot, but officers caught the pair, police said. Police arrested Munoz on counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run, authorities said.
