Arbor View High School football players Mitchell Durkee, Malik Noshi and Herman Gray on Monday, July 21, 2014.

Arbor View couldn’t have set the tone for its game against Desert Oasis any faster Thursday night.

Charles Louch returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown for the Aggies in their 42-20 victory.

“We’ve got a lot of kids stepping up,” Arbor View coach Dan Barnson said. “One thing I know about our kids is they will battle.”

The Aggies are ravaged by injuries. Two more players who found the end zone against the Diamondbacks, Louch and Dante Miller, wound up hurt by the end of the game.

They added to an injury list that’s already expansive.

“It’s like nothing I’ve seen as a coach,” Barnson said. “But we keep finding a way to get wins, so that’s a good thing.”

Arbor View once again rode running back Herman Gray, who scored twice and racked up 114 yards on 11 carries. Maurice Harvey had six carries for 61 yards, and also returned a punt for a touchdown.

Arbor View quarterback Bryce Poster went 3-for-9 for 56 yards and a touchdown pass to Mitchell Durkee.

Desert Oasis mounted a comeback after Arbor View went up 21-0 and was down only a touchdown shortly before halftime. But the Aggies pulled away from there.
