Desert Pines wasn’t going to allow its opponent to hang around this week.

Each of the Jaguars’ last three wins came down to the wire as they found themselves in back and forth affairs. Not Thursday night.

Desert Pines blasted Virgin Valley, posting a 42-6 victory at home.

“We played a very efficient game,” Desert Pines coach Tico Rodriguez said. “It was very clean.”

Vasaifauna Hansell had two interceptions for the Jaguars, with the second setting up an easy touchdown. Quarterback Marckell Grayson threw for a handful of scores, including two to Andre Watts and one apiece to Trevor Nofoa and Jon McCoy.

Isaiah Morris and Jordan Diggs each scored rushing touchdowns.

The victory marked once-beaten Desert Pines’ third straight, and by far their most impressive.

“We played well defensively,” Rodriguez said. “And on offense, we were able to get the ball in our playmakers’ hands and let them go.”
