Herman Gray brought the horns back to Arbor View.

The Aggies had already avenged their loss to the rival Legacy Longhorns in the annual Battle of the Bulls game in last year’s playoffs. But the official trophy is only at risk during regular-season meetings, so the senior Gray took it upon himself to not graduate without it.

Gray rushed for a school-record 318 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries through gaping holes created by the offensive line in a 35-14 victory.

“It seemed like every time we got the ball, Herman took off on a 40-yard run or something,” Arbor View coach Dan Barnson said.

The Aggies failed to capitalize a few times in the first half, though. Arbor led only 14-7 at halftime after Legacy senior DeMichael Walker broke loose with an 89-yard touchdown run.

“Then our kids got going,” Barnson said. “We moved the ball in the first half, but kept sputtering. We didn’t in the second half.”

The defense, also led by Gray, bore down as well in holding Walker to 39 yards on 14 carries other than his scoring jaunt. Arbor View had a defensive touchdown when Mithcell Durkee recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Quarterback Bryce Poster also threw for a touchdown pass, finding Maurice Harvey for a 30-yard score.
