Bradley Alexander II passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another today for the Canyon Springs High football team in a 52-0 victory against host Valley.

Alexander opened the scoring with a 75-yard touchdown pass to Zaviontay Stevenson. He also connected with Kujuan Casey for a 35-yard scoring strike.

“We went out and focused on getting our work done,” Canyon Springs coach Hunkie Cooper said. “You never want to look past an opponent. We didn’t play at Valley’s tempo. We wanted to get our work in to get ready for (next week’s game against) Silverado.”

Jerrod Blackwell added a touchdown run for the Pioneers (5-3 overall, 2-1 Northeast League), and Tre’von Dean threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Davieon Carrington. Defensively, Tyson Odum had two interceptions and a forced fumble. Ezequiel Lopez returned the fumble for a touchdown.

Canyon Springs brought up sophomores from its junior varsity team and gave them significant minutes in the second half.

“They came in and played hard,” Cooper said. “It gives you a good blueprint, a good inventory of what you have in the program.”
