Desert Pines smashed Sunrise Mountain 54-0 Friday night to set up a first-round playoff matchup with Cheyenne next week.

Desert Pines, whose only loss came against Moapa Valley, was mostly already locked into the Sunrise’s No. 2 seed but there were a wide variety of teams it could have faced from the Sunset. Instead of worrying about it, Desert Pines went about its usual business in winning a fourth straight game by more than 40 points.

Isaiah Morris rushed for 260 yards and three touchdowns, while Trevor Nofoa eclipsed 50 yards and had two touchdowns.

Bryan Ramirez had Desert Pines’ final rushing touchdown. On defense, Anthony Smith registered four sacks.

Rodriguez was able to rest many of his starters later in the game. He needs them fresh for Cheyenne.
