Not many high school football teams can say they won their last game of the season.
While Eldorado High missed the playoffs, it gained momentum for the offseason today with a 55-18 victory against host Valley in the season finale.
Eldorado recovered a Valley fumble on the game’s opening kickoff, and Dederick Jones scored on an 8-yard touchdown run a few plays later for a 7-0 lead. The Sundevils would score 42 unanswered points to open the game.
“We really thought we had a chance to get into the playoffs, but we left a lot of points on the field,” Eldorado coach Vernon Brown said of the season.
Josh Brown scored on an 80-yard pass from Deven Dabbs and on a 30-yard touchdown run. Dabbs threw touchdown passes to Tyler Spivey, Carl Crayon and Shane Barnes.
Also, Crayon and Ray’Shaun Gamble had touchdown runs.
Eldorado, despite opening the season with three straight wins, finishes with a 4-5 record. Valley went 0-9.
