Reno pitcher blanks 51s to even playoff series

The Las Vegas 51s were limited to four hits today by Reno’s Andrew Chafin in a complete game shutout as the visiting Aces won 6-0 to even the best-of-five PCL Conference Championship Series at one game each.

Las Vegas had just one baserunner reach second base, mustering only four singles off Chafin. He issued no walks and recorded five strikeouts.

Reno scored five runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Mike Jacobs grand slam to give the Aces the lead for good. Nick Ahmed added a solo home run in the fourth.

The series moves to Reno for the next three games, starting at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
