Deven Dabbs’ four touchdown passes and an interception return for a touchdown from Anthony Silva helped the Eldorado High football team win for the second straight week in a 42-12 victory against visiting Sunrise Mountain.
Eldorado led just 7-0 at halftime before making adjustments to ignite the scoring in the second half. Shane Barnes had two touchdown receptions, and Tyler Spivey and Carl Crayon each had one scoring grab.
Joshua Brown moved to running back for the second half and was able to gain valuable yardage to set up scores in the passing game. At halftime, coach Vernon Brown said one player volunteered to move from wide receiver to tight end, saying his blocking would help open the run game.
“That shows you there is no “I” with this group. They don’t care who gets the credit,” coach Brown said. “The thing I like about this group is how tuned in they are with what’s going on.”
In addition to Silva’s interception return defensively, Tristan Sanchez had a crucial interception to set up a touchdown.
Eldorado improves to 2-0. It plays Durango next week.
