Faith Lutheran’s Greg Benson completed 14 of 18 passes today for 201 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Crusaders to a 40-6 victory against visiting Virgin Valley.
One week after being shut out in its season opener, Faith Lutheran erupted for 28 points in the first quarter. Benson had scoring strikes of 58 yards to Christian Marshall and 69 yards to Mark Rubalcaba, and rushed for 97 yards on six carries including a 14-yard touchdown run.
“We went into the game wanting to get ourselves established offensively after not doing so well last week,” Faith Lutheran coach Vernon Fox said. “We are happy to see the turnaround.”
Alfred Soboyejo IV carried 11 times for 61 yards and a touchdown, and Ryan Callan kicked field goals of 38 and 30 yards. Rubalcaba had seven catches for 102 yards.
