Bradley Alexander II rushed for a touchdown and passed for another today for the Canyon Springs High football team to help it close the game with 20 unanswered points in a 41-14 win against visiting Eldorado.

“He is doing a great job of managing the game,” Canyon Springs coach Hunkie Cooper said of Alexander, his three-year varsity signal caller. “He’s learned he doesn’t have to win the game on his own. Just manage the game and lead us down the field.”

Tre’Von Dean, the backup quarterback, had a 40-yard touchdown pass to Tyreese Ross. D.J. Board added a 22-yard touchdown run and Clayton Jones scored from 45 yards out, helping Canyon Springs grow a seven-point lead into a four-touchdown victory.

Canyon Springs (3-1) opens Northeast League play next week against four-time Sunrise Region champion Liberty. In last year’s Sunrise semifinals, Liberty beat Canyon Springs by three points and the teams always seem to play closely contested games.

“We won’t be able to make the mistakes we made tonight next week,” Cooper said.
