Deyon McKinney had four touchdowns today for the Silverado High football team in a 62-7 victory against host Bonanza.

McKinney had a punt return for a touchdown, a receiving touchdown and two rushing touchdowns, helping Silverado improve to 2-2 on the season. Quarterback Jarret Alipio accounted for two Silverado touchdowns.

Although his offense was impressive in leading 49-0 by halftime, Silverado coach Andy Ostolaza was even more pleased with the effort defensively. Last week, Silverado surrendered 43 points in a loss to Green Valley.

“We had to square away some defensive stuff, especially after last week,” the coach said. “Green Valley just ran us off the field. We had to be more conditioned.”

Nick Moniz, Garrett Chanice and Mitchell Ballard each also scored.

Silverado opens Northeast League play next week against Valley.
