Updated Friday, April 10, 2015 | 2:29 p.m.

Two people were killed this morning when a car crossed the center line of Spring Mountain Road and slammed head-on into a taxicab, Metro Police said.

A 2011 Hyundai Sonata was west at Westwind Road about 5:45 a.m. when it crossed the center line and collided with a Whittlesea cab minivan headed in the opposite direction, police said.

The cab driver, a 55-year-old Las Vegas man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 23-year-old Las Vegas woman, was taken to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

After the initial impact, the cab collided with a Chevrolet Cavalier, and another car hit an unknown object as it drove through the crash debris, police said. The drivers of those vehicles were not injured.

The names of those killed in the crash were not released, pending notification of family members.

Spring Mountain was closed between Lindell and Duneville Street, according to Metro.
