An F-16 fighter jet takes off during Red Flag 13-3 exercises at Nellis Air Force Base Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013.

There was still no word today on the condition of the pilots of two fighters jets that collided Saturday morning after landing at Nellis Air Force Base.

The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcons crashed about 11:20 a.m. following a local operation, according to the 99th Air Base Wing public affairs office.

The pilots were evaluated for any possible injuries, but no additional information on their conditions was available today.

The extent of damage to the aircraft was not released and will be part of an investigation, Nellis spokesman Master Sgt. Sanjay Allen said. The planes are worth between $14.6 million and $18.8 million, depending on the model.

Both aircraft are assigned to the 301st Fighter Wing at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth in Texas. A safety board will investigate the crash.
