Restaurant chain Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is coming to the Silverton, according to a hotel spokeswoman.

The restaurant will be a freestanding building that is not connected to the hotel but will be part of the "overall Silverton Casino Hotel development," Silverton Director of Communications Kimiko Peterson said.

Additional details such as the opening date and construction plans will be released at a later time, she said.

Cracker Barrel spokeswoman Breeanna Straessle said the company is "always considering opportunities for new locations" but doesn't have any announcements to make about a Las Vegas store at this time.

"As a matter of corporate policy, we don’t confirm development in new locations until all of the permits are received," she said in an email. "Since these things can change very quickly, we would hate to be premature in confirming anything without the necessary legal approvals."

The location would be the company's only Nevada restaurant. Currently, the nearest location to the valley is in Kingman, Arizona, according to the company's website. There is also a location in St. George, Utah.

The chain, which offers Southern-style cuisine at its combined restaurant-gift shops, has more than 600 stores in 42 states.

The restaurant serves up meals including a chicken and dumplings platter with vegetables, U.S. farm-raised catfish and sugar-cured ham.

Items sold at the gift shop include toys, apparel and old-fashioned candy.
