Gas restored to most customers after outage

Updated Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 | midnight

Service has been returned to the majority of customers affected by this week’s Southwest Gas outage, the company said Thursday.

About 190 Henderson customers remained without gas late Thursday, according to a Southwest Gas spokesperson.

At the peak of the outage nearly 5,000 customers in the Old Vegas Trail and Wagon Wheel Drive area were left without gas when workers cut service around 1 p.m. Tuesday after finding a damaged pipe.

On Wednesday crews went door-to-door to turn the gas back on in individual homes and businesses.

The challenge to restoring service to the last customers is reaching them when they are home, Headen said, because crews must be able to physically enter the premises and turn the pilot light back on.

Those still without service can call Southwest Gas at 877-860-6020 to have their gas turned on.

Affected customers can shower at Heritage Park Aquatic Center at 300 Racetrack Road from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Customers can find more updates at www.swgas.com.
