The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange announced today that a current staff member will become its next chief operating officer.
Damon Haycock, the exchange’s information systems project manager, will assume the role of chief operating officer on Wednesday.
Last week, Shawna DeRousse announced her resignation from that post to take a job in the private sector. DeRousse had served as the exchange’s chief operating officer since its creation three years ago.
Haycock, a UNR graduate, joined the exchange as a finance and research officer in December 2012. He was named the exchange’s information systems project manager in May.
“I am very pleased Damon has accepted the position of chief operating officer for the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange,” Bruce Gilbert, executive director of the exchange, said in a statement. “Damon did an outstanding job in managing our transition to the federal application and enrollment platform, and I am certain the exchange will benefit greatly as the result of his expanded role.”
The exchange also announced that Laura Rich will become project management officer, effective Wednesday, and will oversee case resolution as well as health plan management and certification. Rich is currently the exchange’s quality assurance officer.
