Man missing after jumping into Lake Mead, losing life jacket

Officials are looking for a man who was last seen jumping into Lake Mead.

The National Park Service received a call at 1:25 p.m. reporting that the man jumped off a boat in Boulder Basin and did not resurface. Witnesses said he was wearing a life jacket but that it came off when he jumped into the water, the National Park Service said.

National Park Service rangers, the U.S. Coast Guard and Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens are still searching for the man.

He is believed to be about a half-mile from the shoreline in an area that is 80-160 feet deep, the National Park Service said.
