Man shot, killed after shooting Metro officer in face

Officers shot and killed a man after he fired at one of them Saturday evening, striking him in the face, according to Metro Police.
Also according to police:
Officers responded to the 3000 block of East Charleston Boulevard about 6:11 p.m. on a report of robbery and battery with a deadly weapon. While officers were at an apartment there, a man emerged from a different apartment and talked to them. He went back inside his apartment and returned with a handgun, then shot one of the officers. They returned fire, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wounded officer was taken to UMC Trauma, where he was treated and released.
The man apparently was armed with a pellet-type handgun. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release his identity, as well as the cause and manner of death. Metro Police will release the identities of the officers involved after two days.
