A Las Vegas man already accused of driving under the influence will face additional charges after investigators connected him to a fatal hit-and-run that left a bicyclist dead.

Metro Police said Zoltan Istvan Pentek is responsible for the death of 67-year-old Larry Martinez.

Martinez, of Las Vegas, was riding east of downtown near Charleston Boulevard and Mojave Road around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when he was fatally hit by a 1999 Honda Civic that sped away.

According to police, 10 minutes after the hit and run, Pentek collided with a car that hit another car, totaling all three vehicles at Charleston and Lamb boulevards. One passenger was sent to University Medical Center with minor injuries.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to the collision and arrested Pentek on suspicion of drunken driving after finding a half-empty, open bottle of alcohol in his car.

Police on Tuesday identified Pentek as the driver involved in both accidents.

Pentek is in the Clark County Detention Center with a court date scheduled for Wednesday.
