Firefighters respond to a bus fire on Interstate 15 southbound, south of Spring Mountain Road, around 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14. No passengers were on the bus at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, but the bus was a complete loss, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

No one was injured when a bus caught fire Sunday afternoon on southbound Interstate 15, although the bus was destroyed.

The bus was traveling south of Spring Mountain Road around 2 p.m. when the driver heard a loud noise and saw fire coming from the right rear wheel, according to information from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

The driver pulled over and used two fire extinguishers in an attempt to stop the fire, but the flames spread, fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Three fire trucks responded to the incident, and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but not before it caused extensive damage.

"The bus is a total loss," Szymanski said.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time, and no injures were reported.
