Nevada foreclosure rate takes big jump in April

April foreclosure activity in Nevada rose by nearly 40 percent from a year ago, giving it the nation’s second-highest residential foreclosure rate.

Real estate analytics company RealtyTrac reported Wednesday night that one of every 555 Nevada residential properties was subject to a foreclosure filing last month, behind only Florida.

In April, Nevada saw 893 foreclosure starts, 681 notices of pending trustee sales and 548 repossessions.

The foreclosure starts consisted of mostly default notices and were up 64.5 percent from a year ago.

Foreclosure activity also rose nationally, led by a jump in repossessions by banks.
