Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaks during a Culinary Workers Union, Local 226, demonstration by the Trump International Hotel Monday, Oct. 12, 2015.

The Service Employees International Union has endorsed Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton for president, championing her as a candidate for the working class.

“We cannot afford four years of policies that will hurt working families while lining the pockets of big corporations,” said Cherie Mancini, president of Las Vegas’ SEIU Local 1107.

The SEIU, which represents 2 million health care service and government workers nationally, will be a major force in rallying votes for Clinton, the former secretary of state.

It chose Clinton after a monthslong vetting process that included member polls, town hall meetings, debates and conferences.

Clinton now has the support of unions that represent 9.5 million workers and wrote to the union that she was “deeply honored” to add it to her list of supporters, according to Politico.

The SEIU bankrolls the Fight for $15 campaign, which rallies fast-food and other workers in the call to raise the minimum wage.

Clinton has called for increasing the minimum wage to $12 an hour, while her primary opponents Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley support $15. The Fight for $15 has been influential in increasing the minimum wage in cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.
