Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval speaks during a groundbreaking ceremony for the “Las Vegas Veterans Memorial - A National Tribute,” at the Grant Sawyer state office building in Las Vegas Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015. The two-acre park and memorial will feature 18 larger-than-life statues of military service members from the Revolutionary War to the global war on terror.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval is endorsing Ohio Gov. John Kasich to be the next Republican nominee for president.

Kasich's campaign announced Sandoval's support in a statement Saturday.

Sandoval will also serve as a national co-chair of Kasich's campaign.

In the statement, Sandoval describes Kasich as the only candidate with "a real plan."

Kasich says he is grateful for Sandoval's endorsement.

As recently as last month, Sandoval said he would support whoever became the GOP nominee.

He had caucused for Florida Sen. Marco Rubio before he dropped out of the race.

Some Republicans have said they would support a third-party bid rather than back Donald Trump.

The businessman is the only candidate with a realistic chance of reaching the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination.
