Las Vegas worker who suffered hundreds of bee stings has died

An exterminator who was stung hundreds of times while removing bees from a southwest valley home earlier this month has died, according to Clark County officials.

He was identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office as Jose Moreno Pacheco, 49, of Las Vegas. He was pronounced dead on Aug. 18 at Southern Hills Hospital, officials said.

The coroner's office is still determining his official cause and manner of death.

The attack happened about 9:15 a.m. Aug. 4 at a house near Grand Canyon Drive and West Oquendo Road, Clark County spokeswoman Stacey Welling said.

Pacheco was not wearing protective clothing during the incident, she said. Other exterminators working with Pacheco were wearing clothing and were not injured.

Firefighters with protective gear pulled Pacheco from the area, Welling said. He was taken to Southern Hills Hospital, where he later died, Welling said.
