Man, 36, arrested in fatal shooting outside victim’s home

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in California in the February shooting death of a Las Vegas man, according to Metro Police.

Dwayne Sterling Lawson was taken into custody Monday near a shopping center in Vacaville, Calif., on a murder warrant, according to Solano County jail records and Metro Police.

He was being held at the Solano County Justice Center Detention Facility in Fairfield, Calif., pending extradition to Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

Lawson is a suspect in the death of 35-year-old Obi Che Eaddy, who was found with a gunshot wound to the torso about 4:50 p.m. Feb. 13 in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue, near Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue, police said.

Eaddy was home with family when he answered a knock at the door and stepped outside, according to police. Gunshots were heard, and Eaddy was found on a walkway, police said.

He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died.

Metro Police previously said the shooting might have been related to an argument.

A warrant for Lawson’s arrest was issued Oct. 2, according to Las Vegas Justice Court records.
