Woman, 55, struck and killed in northeast valley identified

A 55-year-old woman who died after being struck by a car Wednesday night in the northeast valley has been identified as Las Vegas resident Patricia Cole, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Cole died of blunt-force injuries after she tried to cross Las Vegas Boulevard North near East Cheyenne Avenue about 9:40 p.m. in the path of a 1998 Geo Metro, according to a Metro Police news release.

The car was headed north on Las Vegas Boulevard facing a green light when Cole began crossing outside a marked crosswalk, police said.

The 45-year-old Las Vegas woman driving the Chevy was not injured, and Cole was taken to University Medical Center, where she died, police said.

The is the second traffic-related death investigated by Metro this year. The first involved a 56-year-old Las Vegas woman killed Sunday night.
