CCSD custodian gets nearly 2 years in gross-lewdness case

A Clark County School District custodian who pleaded guilty after leaving bodily fluids on a teacher's personal items has been sentenced to nearly two years in jail.

Michael Skelton, 42, received two consecutive terms of 364 days in jail, one term for each count of open and gross lewdness he faced, according to the Clark County District Attorney's Office. He must also register as a sex offender.

Skelton was arrested last month after a teacher at Dondero Elementary School, 4450 Ridgeville St., near Jones Boulevard and Harmon Avenue, noticed fluids on items in her classroom, CCSD Police Sgt. Mitch Maciszak said.

Officials placed surveillance cameras in the room, and Skelton, who did not have interaction with students, was caught on camera masturbating alone after hours, police said.

He told officials he had done it multiple times and found the teacher attractive, according to an arrest report.

Skelton was suspended without pay by the district, which is "moving forward with the process of dismissal," spokeswoman Melinda Malone said.
