Two people are dead and one person was seriously injured after a car collision near the eastern part of the valley Saturday evening.
According to Metro Police:
The incident occurred at 10:41 p.m.
An 81-year-old female was making a left turn from South Boulder Highway onto East Desert Inn Road in a 2013 Dodge Dart when the vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a 2006 Ford 500 traveling south on Boulder Highway in the right lane.
Both cars came to a stop in the intersection. The driver of the Ford, 45-year-old Keith Prassas, was taken to Sunrise Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Dodge and her 83-year-old male passenger were also taken to Sunrise, where they were pronounced dead.
These mark the fifth and sixth traffic-related fatalities in Metro's jurisdiction so far this year.
The collision remains under investigation.
